Pine Point

Pine Point is our beloved summer cottage on the Corrotoman River. My mother's parents bought the house and land in 1950 and named it Happy Point. But my grandmother died before they had much chance to use it, and my grandfather changed its name to Pine Point. Today it is jointly owned by several of his descendants, including me.

The house, the fields, and the river, as shown below, look pretty much as they always have. For me, growing up as an army brat, living all over the world and moving every three years, Pine Point was a welcome constant.

Pine Point's surroundings have undergone the inevitable development, including a street sign that says, unfortunately, "Piney Point," and the house now even has a telephone. I am pleased to report that it still does not have a television.
